ViewPoint 3D
ViewPoint 3D is a 3D computer graphics software, Digital Signage and Presentation program developed by ViewPoint 3D. ViewPoint 3D offers a WYSIWYG user-interface to enable the rapid creation and playback of 3D content that contains data-driven 3D elements (time, date, news, etc), that can present live QHD video, and includes 3D interactive features. It is the only software to directly drive 3D glasses-free displays in real-time; See Autostereoscopy. ViewPoint 3D offers 2D, 3D, presentation, data-display and content management capabilities for a wide range of applications. ViewPoint 3D software products are currently available in English, with other languages under development.
History
ViewPoint 3D was first launched in beta form in 2012 at Earls Court London. It was developed on Windows and became available on Apple computers with Windows. The aim of the project is to develop an immersive 3D creation process where 3D content can contain automatically updated content, such as news, weather or other types of data, plus combine live TV and QHD video within the 3D scene. In August 2014 ViewPoint 3D was extended to support autostereoscopic formats with any number of views and interlacing format.
The software was developed by a C++ team headed by Robin Colclough in London, UK, and was based on an object-oriented graphics software that had been developed with the assistance of Dr Neil Wiseman at the University of Cambridge. The early software was used in industrial and airport data display, and widely installed in the UK´s BAA airports.
File exchange
ViewPoint 3D supports over 18 3D model formats, allowing complex models to be imported into scenes from almost any current CAD or 3D software.
