Vedic Management

Vedas are principles of philosophies, science and art. The philosophies of Vedas are entwined into everyday life of mankind in a way that it gives an omni-positioned reflection, meaning, they give one what they view it as. Vedic Management are those morals of Vedas that can be used effectively for corporate lifestyle, especially the self-development part of it.

Principles

If we deem the principles from core scriptures of Vedas as the theories of management, the puranic history largely based on these principles are the case studies and Upanishadistic explanations are the interpretation of those theories. For example, Bhagawad Gita is considered to be a tremendous material of managerial training.

Many a times, there rise questions on the relevance of Vedas and the rituals on contemporary lifestyle. However, Vedic and Vedantic experts have consciously proved the philosophical relevance very clearly, if not the ritualistic relevance. In fact, vedic experts feel that even rituals are ways to manage a concept. For example, in an organization, the systems of dress code, signing in, reporting, accounting are all those important but not so 'immediately significant' rituals which bring in certain discipline in the organisation. Rituals are to bring in a routine and discipline among the followers of a particular concept.

Term

The term Vedic Management was first popularized by Shri Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and his Maharishi Institute for Management. In his own words "Only Vedic Management has that unlimited broad base of the total organizing power of Natural Law, from where it draws upon the infinite creativity of the infinite organizing power of the holistic value of Natural Law, and also, simultaneously, draws upon the enormous creativity of the specific Laws of Nature." Subsequently there have been several specialists who have been on the concept of Vedic Management. Maharishi Institute of Management has been deeply working on Vedic Management for several years now. There also several others who specialize in the said subject, such as Dr. S. Kannan who calls it a "Holistic Approach to Managerial Excellence". Another expert of Vedic Management, Ashwin Kumar Iyer, Principal Facilitator of Centre for Vedic Management Studies and Research, calls it an "Attempt to revisit the glorious and eternal morals of wisdom and learn lessons that can be applied to the Contemporary society and especially the corporate lifestyle".

Usual subjects

Vedic Management deals with more psychogical aspects of organizational components such as leadership, character building, organisation ethics, Self motivation, team psychology, attitudinal change etc. Though such generic topics are popular among corporates that use Vedic Management, more specific topics that are usually dealt through understanding Vedic Philosophies are Strategic Management, Organisation Structure, Hierarchy Management, Solutions at Crisis Situations, Knowledge Management & Enhancement.

Since Vedas are globally related to Yoga and Ayurveda, Many a times corporates use Vedic Management training as outbound training where the executives are taken to a naturally scenic place and trained in a Gurukul atmosphere.
