Vandalay Brass Quintet
The Vandalay Brass Quintet was formed in early September, 2007 by students of The Juilliard School in New York City. They are:

Matt Wolford - Bass Trombone
Former member: Nicholas Hagen - Tenor Trombone
The Vandalay Brass Quintet was formed with the idea of creating a group based not only on quality playing, but also on quality people. The group plays many genres of music, including (but not limited to): Renaissance through Modern, as well as Jazz.
Quintet members privately study with musicians of the New York Philharmonic, Metropolitan Opera, American Brass Quintet and New York City Ballet, with frequent chamber coachings by members of the American Brass Quintet.
Performances
Since their inception, the Vandalay Brass Quintet has performed throughout New York City in a wide variety of settings, MusicAL styles and events. These include Paul Hall and Morse Hall (The Juilliard School), United Nations Building (New York City), New York School for Interior Design. The quintet also performs regularly for residents of hospitals care centers, rehabilitation centers and more throughout New York City, established by the Maxwell H. Gluck Foundation. The quintet is an ACTIVE participant in the Young People’s Concert Series, sponsored by the Juilliard Office of Educational Outreach. This set of concerts features performances for over 200 fourth graders at The Juilliard School and performances at other elementary schools in New York City.
On November 6, 2009, the quintet performed with the American Brass Quintet in Paul Hall (The Juilliard School), where they played two double-quintets by Giovanni Gabrieli.
In both 2007 and 2008, Vandalay premiered and then performed for a second time, respectively, Eric Ewazen's "Bachauer Fanfare" for the opening of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competition in Paul Hall (The Juilliard School), which was broadcast live on New York's 96.3 WQXR-FM and streamed live on the web at wqxr.com.
