History
Van Damsel formed as an upbeat, indie project after originally being a metal band called Martagan. The band released their debut EP, Say Hello To Your Mother, in 2012, and their sophomore EP, The Sunshine, Girl, in 2013.
On March 5, 2015, Van Damsel released the single "Best of Everything." The song debuted on the Canadian Alternative Rock charts at #34 on May 12, 2015 and at #37 on the Canadian ACTIVE Rock charts on May 26, 2015 (Mediabase).
Van Damsel has been mentored by former Our Lady Peace drummer, Jeremy Taggart.
Van Damsel is currently working on their self-titled debut album, which has been hinted for release in the spring of 2016.
In June 2015, the band was accepted into the 2015 Peak Performance Project. On November 19th, 2015, they took home the 3rd place prize of $50,000.
