Vadim Zeland
Vadim Zeland (Rus. Вадим Зеланд) is a contemporary Russian mystic and writer.
Transurfing
Reality transurfing - an esoteric doctrine being published by Vadim Zeland since 2004. It suggests an idea of multivariant reality where events happen in an infinite number of spaces at the same time. The author describes this doctrine as a technique of moving from one "branch" of reality to another due to the concentration of energy of thoughts on a certain variant. As the author claims, the teaching's practical sense is the ability to choose freely a variant of reality at will by establishing conscious control over your intensions and attitude to the world. To put it more exactly, every person chooses his own reality in any case on the assumption of their worldview, and this reality thus appears to be their own reflection. However, most people do it automatically.
The clue phrase is "Reality exists beyond you, as long as you believe this".
On the practical side, transurfing is a study program of purposefulness and positive attitude to life. As Kozma Prutkov said "If you want to be happy, be so"; however, Zeland ─ almost for the first time ─ minutely explains how.
Basic principles: live by the dictates of your soul; do not fall under outside influence which imposes other people's aims; do not fight with anything and anybody including yourself; use what life offers; do not be afraid of anything, do not hanker for anything, do not worry and act; find a purpose which will be in harmony with your soul and mind and go towards it, casting away your doubts etc. and you will succeed. The author explains in detail the meaning and the application of these principles with many specific examples. As he himself repeatedly points out, The Transurfing method is in fact based on effortless creation of Reality.
Recommended techniques: slide, visualization, energy gymnastics.
Background
Little is known about Vadim Zeland. He states in his autobiography that he used to be a quantum mechanics physicist and later a computer technologist. He prefers not to become a well-known celebrity, shielding personal details.
Zeland's main goal is to present a set of techniques which he calls "Transurfing of Realities" (Rus. Трансерфинг реальности) for the attainment of practical goals. These techniques are of a mental and metaphysical nature, which Zeeland supports by presenting a model of the universe that combines the elements of quantum physics with the idea of parallel worlds. (Compare with The Field by Lynne McTaggart: The Secret (book). As Zeland states, the use of the techniques is not dependent on the acceptance of his theoretical model.
The basic thrust of Zeland's methods is similar to other approaches that rely on positive thinking such as The Secret by Rhonda Byrne (Amazon) and The Law of Attraction. However, Zeland adds some finesse to the basic concept of positive thinking. For example, he presents arguments that strong desires often make the attainment of the goal more difficult. His remedy is to combine goal orientation with emotional detachment. (Here one can detect an influence of Buddhism.)
Some of Zeland's techniques are very simple and practical, e.g. his methods of combining rational thinking with intuition for making practical decisions. Other "tools" require a high degree of control over one's thoughts and/or emotions.
Zeland also advocates reducing the amount of mental self-talk in favour of listening to one's intuition, which has some similarity with the teachings of Eckhart Tolle.
Five books on Zeland teachings have been published in Russia, plus a single volume that combines all five. All five books of the Reality Transurfing series have been published into English, There is also a Workbook titled 78 days Practical Transurfing, Presently the first three books are out of print and plans are being made to launch them in e book format any time soon.
