Uygar Aktan

Uygar Suphi Aktan is a Turkish actor, screenwriter and director. He attended the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York City. Following his studies, he relocated to Los Angeles and wrote the screenplay Waiting Room to Paradise. Academy Award Winner Michael Cimino (The Deer Hunter) and Rod Hardy (December Boys) both expressed interest in directing the picture which fell through when financing was not forthcoming.
Aktan then wrote, produced, and played the lead in an independent feature film titled Master of the Game. The film received mixed reviews.
The film received mixed reviews, with Joe Leydon of Variety said "Script by producer-star Uygar Aktan might be more effective in a stylized legit production. Even there, however, aud credibility would be strained by unconvincing characterizations, unpersuasive plot mechanics and overall ham-handedness."
Chris Gore from Film Threat called Master of the Game ‘‘a film that just completely blows you away’’ and described it as ‘‘...one of the great mind-fucks in film history.’’
Aktan was forced to suspend his activities in order to pursue his Ph.D and returned to screenwriting in 2011 with a scripted entitled The King’s Son which he plans to develop into a feature-length motion picture. It is the story of a guilt-ridden former gangster who gets word that his estranged father (a crime lord known as the King) is on his deathbed. But when he returns to the old neighborhood to make amends, he discovers that his father’s last wish is for him to settle an old vendetta as the price of atonement.
The King’s Son won the Best Screenplay Award at the 2011 Burbank International Film Festival.
Aktan is currently developing his next feature film titled Istanbul State of Mind, a psychological thriller based on the real life story of an American war hero who finds himself trapped in an Orwellian nightmare. The film is set to be produced in Istanbul, Turkey.
Aktan was formerly represented by Eric Weissmann from Weissmann & Wolff.
