Uttam Prakash Agarwal
CA Uttam Prakash Agarwal is the present President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India.
He born in Sumerpur, Pali district, Rajasthan, later went to Mumbai in 1984 wherein he completed his chartered accountancy in 1987. He was elected to the Central Council of ICAI for the first time in 2004 and thereafter in 2007.
He is holding the Chair of all the three standing committees- executive, finance and examination of ICAI, Board of Discipline, Infrastructure Committee , Representation Committee, ICAI-ICWAI-ICSI Co-ordination Committee, International Affairs Committee, Diamond Jubilee Committee and High Powered Committee. He is the Chairman & Director on board of ICAI Accounting Research Foundation, Chairman of Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Fund, Chartered Accountants’ Students Benevolent Fund and the S. Vaidyanathan Aiyer Memorial Fund and is a Member of virtually all Non- Standing Committees of ICAI. He is the Editor of monthly Journal The Chartered Accountant.
He is also a member of the National Advisory Committee on Accounting Standards constituted by the Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Government of India, the Audit Advisory Board and the Government Accounting Standards Advisory Board. He is member of many Govt. and international Committees/Boards like the Committee on Internal Audit, Board of IRDA, the Board of Tariff Advisory Committee of IRDA, Standing Committee on Accounting Issues (SCAI), India- UK (Indo-UK) Task force on Corporate Affairs, the Board of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) etc.
What has been exemplary in his life is the single-minded devotion and relentless pursuit for welfare of everybody, which has brought him at a higher pedestal in social circles.
