USS Stingray (SS-161)

''For the real United States Submarine designated SS-161, see USS S-50 (SS-161)

USS Stingray (SS-161) is a fictitious U.S. Navy diesel engine submarine featured in the 1996 comedy film Down Periscope. The Stingray was "played" by the USS Pampanito (SS-383), a still-seaworthy World War II Balao-class submarine that is now a memorial and museum ship in San Francisco.
