Uri Alon (businessman)
Uri Alon (born November 24, 1970) is an Israeli business executive and manager, serving as the active chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Leumi.
Prior to his appointment as Chairman of Bank Leumi, Alon served as Deputy CEO of the Isracard Group, CEO and partner of the Gulliver Travel Group, Vice President of the Customer Division at Direct Insurance (Bituach Yashir), and Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Relations at Golden Channels (HOT). He has also served as a director at several companies, including Bank Leumi, Adika Style (from the Golf Group), and Mehadrin.
Military service and education
Alon was born to Gad Alon (1938–1987), President of Shenkar College of Engineering, Design and Art, and Liora Alon, former deputy director of the Instruction Bureau at the Israeli Ministry of Education.
From 1988 to 1991, he served in the Israel Defense Forces as a combat soldier and platoon medic in Battalion 946. In the reserves, he served as an airborne medic in Unit 669. He received an Outstanding Soldier citation from the Medical Corps of the Israeli Air Force.
From 1993 to 1996, he earned a BA in political science from Tel Aviv University.
From 1997 to 1999, he completed an MBA with honors, specializing in Finance and Marketing, at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev.
In 2018, he completed a Directors Program at IDC Herzliya.
Business career
In 1999, Alon was appointed Vice President of Sales and Customer Relations at Golden Channels. In 2001, he became Vice President of Marketing, Sales and Customer Relations. In 2004, he was appointed Vice President of the Customer Division at Direct Insurance.
In 2008, Alon was appointed CEO of Gulliver Travel Group. In 2013, he became CEO and partner of the Gulliver Group.
In 2016, Alon was appointed an independent director at Mehadrin for a four-year term and served on the Audit Committee and the Balance Sheet and Compensation Committee.
In 2019, he was appointed a member of the management team at Isracard and later served as Deputy CEO of Isracard.
He resigned in 2022 and was appointed an external director at Adika Style (Golf Group), serving as Chair of the Balance Sheet and Compensation Committee and as a member of the Audit Committee.
From December 2022 until the end of 2024, he served as CEO of the insurance-tech startup founded by Ayal Lapidot.
Since 2022, Alon has been a member of the Directors’ Pool of the Israeli Government Companies Authority, with recognized managerial and financial expertise.
Bank Leumi
In 2023, Alon was appointed a director at Bank Leumi and served on several board committees, including Credit, Technology, Procedures and Resources.
In late November 2024, he was elected chairman of the Board of Directors of Bank Leumi.
Public activity
Alon serves as a mentor in the alumni association of Unit Yahalom.
Personal life
Alon is married to Liat, an interior architect and painter. They live in Tel Aviv and have three children.
