Upendra Singh

Upendra Singh is an Indian civil servant, who is presently Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, Indian Revenue Service (IRS), Government of India.

Biography

He was born and brought up in Mankapur, Gonda district, Uttar Pradesh. He completed his schooling from AP Inter-College where he stood first in his class and was ranked in the top 10 in The INDIAN state of Uttar Pradesh. He completed his M.Sc (Gold Medalist) in Nuclear Physics from esteemed Benaras Hindu University (BHU), and later became the first person from the region to get selected in the elite IAS (Indian Administrative Service).

Hailing from family of late Shri. Shree Dutt Singh and late Smt. Shail Kumari Devi, he is one of four sons. Shri. Shree Dutt Singh was the founding principal of AP Inter-College. Though AP Inter College was established by the major financial contribution from the local raja, it was Shree Dutt Singh's sweat and blood which saw the college being set up and established.

Mr Upendra Singh has followed in the footsteps of his great educationist father and has established prominent school in Mankapur town and college in Shree Dutt Nagar. He inherited the mantle of social service with a purpose from his late father Shree Dutt Singhji. The college, Dada Karan Singh Inter College is known education center in the Mankapur Tehsil.

Shri Upendra Singh has organized medical camps, eye camps and grabi hatao campaigns for the benefit of the needy and poor masses of Mankapur. His efforts has let to the establishment of two temples in Sree Dutt Nagar (formerly known as Kudasan) and Tikri and primary care clinic in Sree Dutt Nagar. Being successful son of the soil, Mr Singh has grand plans for economic and social upliftment of the area.

Personal life

Mr Upendra Singh is married to Smt. Krishna Singh daughter of late Dr. Raj Mangal Singh and late Smt. Rampati Devi. They have three children, Manvendra Singh, Ambrish Singh and Bhairavi Singh.
