University College of Teacher Education Vaikom

University College of Teacher Education (UCTE) Vaikom is directly run by MahatmaGandhiUniversity, Kottayam. The college started functioning in the year 01.09.1998. It is situated at the heart of the Municipality close to the North Gate of The Famous SivaTemple at Vaikom. The college is a blessing to the socially and economically backward sections of the society in and around Vaikom as the admission is purely on the basis of merit. Communal reservation is strictly observed as per Indian and Kerala government norms. In addition, around 30% of the admitted students belong to backward community and their education expense is met by the government.
The college is now in possession of a hall with 400 seating capacity, and E.T lab with 150 seats, four laboratories–psychology, biology, language and computer - a social science room, physical education room, music and work experience room, four class rooms, principal’s room, office room, store room, common room, staff room and seven toilets. The college offers Bachelor of Education in five areas of discipline viz Social science, Life science, Malayalam , Commerce and physical science.
