Charitable Work
Underground Elephant has partnered with the Born Free Foundation and the San Diego Zoo to help protect wild elephants and study the elephant’s paths and natural behavior. The Born Free Foundation is an international wildlife specialist dedicated to protect elephants from poaching. The population of elephants declined from 100,000 in the 1970’s to a drastic 16,000 in 1989. It is estimated that 20,000 – 25,000 elephants are being killed by poachers every year for their ivory tusks. The San Diego Zoo is dedicated to learning about elephants and their natural behavior to protect future generations. Their Project Elephants Footprint track their migration patterns to discover solutions which will save elephants from distractions such as; human settlements, fences, roads, farms and poaching which now block the elephant’s historic migration path. Underground Elephant donates a portion of their profits to each of these foundations, helping them protect elephant herds from human expansion threats and research the elephant’s natural behaviors to sustain a harmonious habitat for elephants to live in accordance with humans for future generations.
