Ullu Da Pattha

Ullu Da Pattha (Literal: उल्लू का पट्ठा, , Punjabi: ਉੱਲੂ ਦਾ ਪਤ੍ਥ), is a song from the 2010 film Tere Bin Laden. The song is composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, with lyrics by Jaideep Sahni.

Overview

The co producer of the film, Pooja Shetty, who had also produced Johnny Gaddaar, suggested the name of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy for composing the music of the film. While they were composing the Punjabi flavored song, Shankar came up with a mock phrase "He is a good looking Ullu Da Pattha", referring to Ali Zafar in jest. Later on, they developed the song based on the same phrase as both lyricist and director liked it.

Reception

The song got good response from the critics. Bollywood Hungama review described it as "catchy enough to get on your lips after the very first listening".

The song went on to become a rage among the audiences. The song became so popular that, the producers of the movie used the catchphrase Good Looking Ullu Da Pattha in T-Shirts which were worn by celebrities like Salman Khan and Karan Johar.

Music Video

The tongue-in-cheek video shows Ali Zafar, a journalist who is desperate to migrate to the United States, dreaming about him being interrograted. He stands in a line-up bearing a sign reading "South Asian" - along with a black man whose sign reads "African," a Latin man whose sign reads "Mexican," and a white man whose sign reads "Peter."
