Udupi Kochikar Pai Family
This family is one of the well-known families of Goud Saraswat Brahmins community, which has its origins in Kochi, Kerala, India.
History
Legend has it that one Shri Narayana Pai from Kochi came to Brahmavar along with the then H.H. Swamiji of Kashi Math Samstan. Swamiji requested the young Narayana to settle down in Brahmavar by marrying the daughter of a local noble person (Pattan Sheth?). Hence the locals referred him as "Kochikar". Udupi Kochikars have their roots in Udupi, South Canara, Karnataka, India. The members in the family are Konkani speaking Goud Saraswat Brahmins. Presently, the family is in its ninth (9th) generation.
