U Jędrusia
U Jędrusia Sp. z o.o. is a Polish company specializing in the production of chilled ready-to-eat meals. It is one of the largest companies in this sector in Poland.
History
The company was founded in 1980 by Maria and Andrzej Krupiński as a local restaurant in Kraków. In 1989, the company took over a 200 m² warehouse facility from the “Naprzód” Production Cooperative on Stradomska Street, Kraków adjacent to the restaurant and started a small-scale food production line. Dumplings, cabbage rolls, and other dishes were sold through cooperative retail stores.
Since 1993, the company has begun cooperating with its first hypermarket chains, including Makro Cash & Carry. Later, distribution expanded to other major retail chains such as Carrefour, Tesco, Auchan, and Leclerc. The cooperation required production expansion and adjustments to packaging and logistics standards.
From 2011, the Biedronka retail chain became one of the company's main clients. Around the same time, a potential sale of the company to Heinz was considered, though the transaction was never completed.
In 2016, the company expanded abroad, becoming a catering partner of the Borussia Dortmund football club. In 2022, it underwent a full rebranding and introduced a new slogan, "Cieszy smakiem!" (“Enjoy the taste!”).
Operations
The company produces ready-to-eat meals inspired by Polish cuisine and international dishes. Its product range includes pierogi, croquettes, full-course meals, flour-based dishes, zapiekanka (Polish-style baguette pizza), and seasonal items such as Christmas products. Products are sold under the "U Jędrusia" brand and as private label products for retail chains.
Production plants are located in Morawica and Wieliczka. The Morawica facility, opened in 2007, focuses on the production of dumplings, croquettes, spring rolls, kluski, and other delicatessen-style items. In 2021, it was expanded by 21,000 m², bringing the total area to 31,000 m². The Wieliczka facility, operating since 2013, houses modern automated production lines and specializes in meal preparation and packaging. In 2025, the company began designing a new production plant in Trzebinia.
The company exports its products to Germany, the United Kingdom, and other European Union countries. Its production processes meet international food safety standards such as HACCP, ISO 22000, and IFS Food. According to company statements, raw materials are sourced from suppliers subject to regular quality audits and veterinary supervision.
In 2019, the company began cooperating with the animal welfare group Otwarte Klatki, pledging to phase out the use of battery-cage eggs by 2025. The goal was achieved in 2023.
Management and recognition
Until 2023, the position of president of the management board was held by Andrzej Krupiński, who currently sits on the supervisory board. Since 2023, the company has been led by president Maciej Krupiński, with Katarzyna Krupińska as vice president.
In 2021, founders Maria and Andrzej Krupiński were awarded the title “Philanthropist of Kraków A.D. 2021” for their support to the Stefan Żeromski Specialist Municipal Hospital in Kraków during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2022, the company received the Gold Emblem in the Consumer Quality Leader competition, and in 2024 it was awarded the “Consumer Laurel – Leader of the 20th Anniversary” in the category "Highest Product Quality – Ready Meals" for the years 2004–2024.
