Two Weeks With The Queen

Two Weeks With The Queen is a 1990 children's novel by Australian author Morris Gleitzman, based on the play AbOUT a young boy who goes over from Australia to England to see the Queen about saving his brother from cancer. The book is published by Puffin Books.

Plot

It's Christmas Day, as Colin Mudford, an your average Australian boy, watches the Queen's yearly message, as he wishes that he had a microscope instead of new school shoes, as his younger brother Luke plays outside with his present. As Luke stuffs food down his throat, Colin is complaining to his parents about his presents, but they notice then that Luke is pale and lying on the floor. He is taken to hospital, with Dad, as Colin and Mum stay behind for two days. The next day, realizing that Luke has cancer, Colin is told that he is going over to England to stay with his uncle, auntie and cousin who he's never met. Colin is determined to save Luke, so he writes a letter to the Queen, asking if he can have her best doctor. When he's over there, he gets into all sorts of mischief and makes new friends.
