Tusker (film)

Tusker is a canceled computer animated film that was going to be made by Dreamworks Animation. It was originally announced in May of 2000, and scheduled for a December 2002 release. It was to be Dreamworks' third animated film, following Antz and Shrek. In August of 2001, it was postponed to make way for Shrek 2 and Madagascar. It was officially canceled in 2005.

Plot

Tusker was going to follow a group of elephants as they made a perilous trek across southeast Asia, evading poachers. It was described as being similar to The Dirty Dozen and The Guns of Navarone. Jeffrey Katzenberg described it as "an homage to the classic World War II films in which a band of screw-ups have to go on an impossible mission in order to save the rest of the herd."

When the film was first announced, it was also revealed that Morgan Freeman would be voicing the elephant herd's leader, and Jodie Foster would be voicing a young female in the herd. In 2001, it was announced that Dana Carvey and Garry Shandling were also doing voices.
