History
Uify Technologies GmbH was founded in 2022 in Berlin by Niels Tonsen, Dominik Picker-Huchzermeyer, and Tilmann Roth. In its first phase, the company, then BRANDed Uify, offered a low-code platform intended to let operations teams and developers build custom enterprise applications and automate spreadsheet-based processes.
In September 2022 the company raised a seed round. According to the German startup outlet Deutsche Startups, investors included Cherry Ventures and Visionaries Club; business databases additionally list Everywhere Ventures and MVP Founders among its backers. The data provider PitchBook estimates total funding at AbOUT US$3.78 million.
The company subsequently pivoted toward generative and "agentic" artificial intelligence for document-heavy B2B workflows. On 7 October 2024 it rebranded from Uify to turian, describing the change as a name change only, with no change in ownership or legal entity, and attributing it to trademark difficulties with the name "Uify."
