Tunde Adelakun
Tunde Adelakun is a Nigerian sports administrator and sports development practitioner based in the United Kingdom. The National Sports Commission Nigeria National Sports Commission appointed him chairman of its Diaspora Talents Discovery Committee, a body established to identify and engage athletes of Nigerian descent living outside Nigeria.
Biography
He has worked in football administration and talent identification and has been involved with Nigerian and African football, including work with the Nigeria national football team and the Benin national football team. The National Sports Commission (Nigeria)|National Sports Commission appointed him chairman of its Diaspora Talents Discovery Committee, a body established to identify and engage athletes of Nigerian descent living outside Nigeria. He has worked in several areas of the football industry, including football journalism, marketing, player welfare, mentoring and sports administration. His professional career has also involved football politics and lobbying and work with players and coaches.
Adelakun served as an adviser to former Nigerian sports ministers, served on the board of the Nigerian Academicals Sports Committee and worked as chief scout of the Nigeria national football team, commonly known as the Super Eagles. His work in player identification included efforts to identify footballers of Nigerian descent eligible to represent Nigeria. He became chairman of the Nigeria Diaspora Sports Council (NDSC), an organisation established to provide a platform for Nigerians living outside Nigeria who are involved in sports as athletes, coaches, mentors, parents or agents. The council’s activities formed part of Adelakun’s wider involvement in identifying athletes of Nigerian and African descent outside their countries of origin. He is the president of Rotary Sport International that specializes in sport. The United Nations Education Foundation recognized him with an honorary Doctorate in International Relations in a ceremony in Dallas Texas.
