Tuen Mun Children and Juvenile Home

Tuen Mun Children and Juvenile Home, abbreviated as TMCJH, a newly established institution for teenagers in Hong Kong. It serves as a probation home, reformatory school, remand home and place of refuge. It is run by the Social Welfare Department(SWD) of the government of the Hong Kong SAR. Its admission is only available by court orders. It is a new facility which has replaced all the old residential and correctional homes run by the SWD in Hong Kong. These old homes, already closed down now, include: Begonia Road Juvenile Home, Pui Chi Boys' Home, Fanling Girls' Home, Ma Tau Wai Girls' Home, O Pui Shan Boys' Home and Shatin Boys' Home. Although TMCJH is run by the government of the Hong Kong SAR, many core services within the Home are provided by other NGOs. These include all security guards, janitors, laundry, cooks, food caterers, artisans, drivers, hostel managers and even teachers. Since its new mode of operation is still under experiments; conflicts, complaints are continuosly reported. Public concern on this newly etablished facility is widespread and it will change its Superintendent on 17 September, 2007.
