Trueman House
Trueman House was a residence at Mount Allison University, in Sackville, NB, Canada, until its closure in June of 2005. At the time, it was the oldest residence on campus. The building is currently being renovated as part of the Facilities Master Plan, and is slated to open in Fall 2008 as The New student centre.
Trueman House was an all-male residence from its opening in 1946 until the late 1990s. It replaced an earlier Trueman House which was situated close by on the Mount Allison campus. The older house burnt down, [...] four students.
In recent years Trueman House had been co-ed, with male and female rooms alternating. Trueman is home to Tweedie Hall, which in turn houses a massive Alex Colville painting. McConnell East and West were also part of Trueman, and were used as dining halls until Jennings Hall was renovated. In recent years they had been used as lecture space as well as free space for events such as live shows during Convocation Weekend and home to the Yellow Ribbon Society's holiday ball.
There is currently a lack of large spaces available for booking at Mt. A while Trueman undergoes renovations. Events such as the annual Grad Banquet have had to be moved to Jennings Hall.
Mt. A's old description of Trueman house can be found at http://web.archive.org/web/20021110210815/www.mta.ca/administration/das/housing/resprofile/trueman.html. Trueman's colours were blue and orange, and in its final year, it won house of the year at the Ascars.
