Troy A. Fodemski
Troy Allen Fodemski (born August 18, 1963) is an American inventor, entrepreneur, author And Co-founder of Concussion Mitigation Technologies (CMT), founded in 2011. He is best known for his invention of the Smart Helmet, a sports helmet with advanced reactive technology to help protect athletes' heads during dangerous collisions. Fodemski designed the Smart Helmet to protect the heads of athletes, especially those involved in contact sports like American football and hockey. Fodemski got the idea for the helmet while watching an NFL game on television in 2009 and witnessing a concussion. He is also the author of The March to Mediocrity, a book of short stories depicting ironic and satirical family life and road trips.
Awards and recognition
Fodemski has contributed to several articles related to the Smart Helmet technology which has received the Colorado Springs Business Journal’s 2014 Technology Award. He has also been referenced on FOX News, KOAA5, and the Smithsonian. In April 2014, his company received the U.S. trademark right to the name “The Smart Helmet”.
