Trivedi Mewada Brahmin Barishi

Trivedi Mewada Brahmin also known as Tarvadi Mewada Brahmin'' orTrivedi Mewada Brahman'' is a sub caste of Brahmin people from north east Gujarat.

Etymology

The Name Trivedi Mewada Brahmin stands for Brahmins who migrated from Mewad between the 14th and 15th centuries, due to loss of king against the foreign allied kingdoms. Barishi (baar meaning twelve in Gujarati and rishi meaning sage in Sanskrit) refers to the villages in which the twelve Brahmins settled and now these collective of twelve villages are known as Trivedi Mewada Brahmin Barishi.

Eklingji Mahadev, a form of Shiva is Kuldevta i.e. Clan God of these peoples & Goddess Amba as there Kuldevi i.e. Clan Goddess. They also preach Vishnu in form of Shamlaji & had also build the temple in nearby Shamlaji.
