Trevor Masterson

Trevor Masterson is a Composer and Musician based in the United Kingdom. He is best known for the original soundtracks that he has created for various media formats, notably the broadcast TV commercials for brands such as BT, Kelloggs, Dell, the BBC, Peugeot, Seven Seas and Staples. In 2009 he was commissioned to compose and produce an original soundtrack for Analogue, a Film London / BBC funded feature film. 1

Early Music

In 1989, age 16, he formed the indie band Neural Groove with Alex Menzies and wrote many songs including PEAS and Lionel, performing live at many venues along the South Coast of England, notably The Railway Inn in Winchester and Ritzy's in Portsmouth. At this time Trevor also filmed, edited and produced a music video for the indie band S.K.A.W's first single, Without You, released on the record label Vinyl Japan.

In 1991, Trevor spent a year in Australia, where he met the poet and comedian Helen Thomas and together they wrote and performed many songs. Helen continues to perform some of the songs they wrote at that time. 2

University and First Works

While studying Media Production at Bournemouth University, he DJ'd at many clubs and events alongside Paul Noble and also composed and recorded several trance songs, some of which were a collaboration with Dave Wallace, who went on to form one third of the successful MusicAL trio known collectively as Aquasky.

Trevor moved to London after he had graduated and spent AbOUT 7 months working full time as a BetaCam camera assistant for Shift 4. During this time he teamed up with Suki Singh, Colin Melville and Dan Mellow to form Hot Lemonade Films and their combined talents crafted several short films including the highly acclaimed, Dust.

Commissions

Since 1997 Trevor has been employed to compose and produce original music by agencies and production companies that include the BBC, Sky Television, Fallon, Wieden and Kennedy, Commercials Unlimited, The Viral Factory, Pepper Corporation, AV Brown, Uber and The Brewery, working for directors such as Roger Alexander, Ian Sciacaluga, Suki Singh, Steen Agro, Simon Devine, Emmanuel Carlier and Chris Beckles. Trevor's music has been accompanied by voice over artists including Sean Pertwee, Mariella Frostrup, Grif Rhys Jones, Colin Murray and James Nesbitt.
