Total video converter
Total Video Converter is a shareware video and audio converter utility from EffectMatrix. It is commonly used to convert most fashionable video formats for various video players as well as show photos slide and burn the converted video to DVD/SVCD/VCD. Started from version 2.21, Total Video Converter supports for converting almost all video formats. However, it doesn't support SWF format. The current version 3.50 can convert and burn video to AVCHD that can work on PS3 and Blu-ray player.
Features
Like many other video converters, Total Video Converter is able to convert a large number of video and audio formats into a variety of formats, such as MP4, 3GP, AVI (MPEG-4 Part 2) , AMR audio which are used by AVCHD, mobile phone, PDA, PSP, iPod, iPhone, Xbox 360, PS3, Microsoft Zune etc. AS well as converting video, the current version is includes a desktop screen capture program. Users also have the option to combine several video or audio files into one and demultiplex and extract audio from various of videos and convert them to MP3, AC3, Ogg, WAV, AAC etc. The program also contains a feature for converting videos to MPEG format compatible with standard DVD/SVCD/VCD; and burn the converted videos to a DVD/SVCD/VCD. There are two main modes in Total Video Converter, Easy mode and Advanced mode:
- Easy mode allows inexperienced users to simply import a video, select the he desired format and convert it.
- However, advanced mode, preferebly for more experienced users, allows the user to change many aspects of the video, such as the size, bitrate and audio codec.
Total Video Converter runs under Windows 98/2000/XP/2003/Vista. The trial version has 15 days limitaiton, and a watermark will Appear at the left top of every converted video.
As well as Total Video Converter, users receive Toal video Player, upon downloading or purchasing the program. This allows many video and audio formats to be played, such as MP4 and VOB.
License controversy
EffectMatrix is listed on FFmpeg's Hall of Shame, indicating that Total video converter is violating FFmpeg's license terms by distributing binaries of software under GPL or LGPL without offering source code.
