Personality
Tonio is well known in his home of Alamos Town as a prominent scientist with an intellectual air. His family history is also of note, as his great-grandfather was the famed architecht Godey, builder of Alamos's great gardens and the town's symbol, the Space-Time Tower, which is where Tonio has made his home and laboratory.
In the lab, Tonio studies all sorts of energy using a stockpile of high-tech equipment. He also employs his Drifblim to assist in his research by having it carry sensory equipment as it floats about the town. Even when he is out and about, Tonio is almost always seen with his laptop computer, giving him the ability to hastily analyze data on the spot if he needs too, as he does several times during the events of the movie.
Another focus of Tonio's research is the diary kept by his great-grandfather that he inherited. All sorts of information and notes are kept in it, and when the legendary Pokémon Dialga and Palkia begin fighting in Alamos Town, Tonio quickly realizes that Godey's diary contains predictions about that very event as well as the only solution, a special song known as "Oracion."
Godey is Tonio's only known relative. However, he is very close to Alice, who is either his girlfriend (if you ask her) or his fianceé, which Tonio's old schoolmate Baron Alberto calls her.
Trivia
-Tonio's name, when combined with that of his great-grandfather Godey, is a reference to Antoni Gaudi, the real-life architecht of the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona, Spain, which is what the Space-Time Tower itself is based upon.
