Tolex (singer)

Tolulope Olufiade (born 25 October 1995), known professionally by stage name Tolex, is a Nigerian producer, singer, songwriter and performer. He gained recognition with a viral TikTok hit single "Money", which debuted on the Spotify Viral New Songs Charts and official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs and Top New songs charts and also appeared on the Turntable Radio chart, becoming one of the few Nigerian artists to achieve this milestone in the chart's history.

Early life and education

Tolulope Olufiade was born in Osun State, Nigeria on the 25 October 1995, and he grew up and was raised in Lagos state where he spent most of his childhood. He attended Gyasi Primary School in 2006, and then Santa Maria College in 2012, before furthering in the American Intercontinental University in 2023.

Career

Tolex officially launched his music career with the release of his debut single titled "Celebration" In 2022. On 21 August 2024, Tolex released "Money", which debuted on the Spotify Viral New Songs Charts and official Nigeria TurnTable Top 100 songs and Top New songs charts and also appeared on the Turntable Radio chart. On 15 June 2025, Tolex was featured by Turntable as one of its emerging New artists. On 26 September 2024, Tolex released Lazy Youth.

Conversely, many supporters defended the song, describing it as a call for reform and a push toward accountability from those in power. In interviews, Tolex clarified that his aim was to provoke thought and inspire change rather than condemn youth, framing the song as part of a larger conversation on empowerment and opportunity.
