Tim Mohin

Timothy J. Mohin is an American businessman in corporate sustainability. He serves as the Chief Executive of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), an international independent standards organization focusing on climate change, human rights and corruption.

Early life and education

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental biology from the State University of New York at Cortland
  • Master's degree in Environmental management from Duke University

Career

1984 to 1995: US EPA and Senate

Tim began his career as an environmental policy expert with the EPA, leading the development of the toxics provisions of the Clean Air Act Amendments. Later, Tim was senior legislative staff for the Chairman of Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, where he drafted the National Environmental Technology Act of 1993 as well as a number of provisions for other environmental acts.

1995 to 2006: Intel Corporation

Tim led Intel Corporation's environmental and sustainability functions. Tim held a variety of positions including managing the corporate environmental team and Director of Sustainable Development, serving at Intel for AbOUT 12 years.

2006 to 2009: Apple Inc. and EORM

Tim founded and led Apple's Supplier Responsibility program. As Senior Manager for Supplier Responsibility Tim oversaw Apple's responsibility initiatives for labor, human rights, environment, health and safety as well as ethics across many facilities, primarily in Asia. Tim left Apple for a brief role at EORM for a strategic role to grow the company’s service offerings in sustainability and corporate social responsibility programs.

2009 to 2016: AMD

Tim joined Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) as Senior Director of Corporate Responsibility in December 2009, where he was responsible for the development of the company’s corporate responsibility strategy, overseeing program execution, and chairing the cross-functional corporate responsibility council. It was during this time that he served as Chairman of the Board for Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC), managing issues such as conflict minerals and forced labor in the electronics industry.

2017 to present: GRI

Tim serves as the Chief Executive of Global Reporting Initiative (GRI). GRI develops sustainability reporting standards. More than 70% of reporting companies worldwide use GRI disclosure standards.

  • Chairman of the Board for Electronics Industry Citizenship Coalition (EICC) 2013-2014.
  • Co-Chaired the multi-stakeholder group focused on conflict minerals policy in the US.
  • Served on the Board of Directors of Net Impact.
  • Served as Director of The Green Grid.
  • Served on the Board of Arizona Chapter of the Nature Conservancy, The Global Environmental Management Initiative and the Arizona Governors Advisory Board on Climate Change.

Personal life

Tim currently lives in Amsterdam, Netherlands. He is an avid cyclist and runner and has completed two triathlons, one marathon as well as other events. Tim enjoys travel, SCUBA, outdoor activities and is an avid reader of audio books. Tim and Catherine are parents of two grown children and grandparents to one - soon to be three - grandchildren.
