Thurso Academicals Football Club

Thurso Academicals Football Club is an amateur football club which competes in the 1st Division of the Caithness County League which is a summer league running between May and August. The league is run by the Caithness Amateur Football Association (CAFA) who are affiliated to the Scottish Amateur Football Association Scottish Amateur Football Association(SAFA). The club plays its home matches at Sir George's Park in Thurso, also known as the 'Dammies'. The Acks share their home pitch with two other Thurso Clubs, Thurso Swifts FC and Thurso Pentland FC. The Acks also take part in The Highland Amateur Cup every year with its most successful run in the competition coming in 2001 when they were beaten by eventual winners Wick Thistle in the semi final.

History

Thurso Academicals FC, commonly known as The Acks, were formed in 1898 making them one of the oldest football clubs in Caithness. The club won its first league title in 1927.
