Thomas B. Mitose
Thomas Barro Mitose (born 1940 in Hawaii), also known as Thomas Barro, is the 22nd Great Grandmaster of Kosho Shorei Ryu Kempo.
Biography
Born to James Mitose and his wife, who were unable to raise a child due to financial difficulties, Mitose was adopted by the Barro family. He lived near his biological family and trained at Kitayama's judo school before attending James Mitose's school, the Christian Youth Center on Beretania Street.
Mitose moved to San Francisco and learned kajukenbo. After earning a black belt, Mitose opened a martial arts school called Barro's Karate Kung Fu. He visited his biological father in Los Angeles and began training with him. During a trip to visit his biological mother, Thomas Mitose met William Chow and learned more AbOUT kenpo. Later, Mitose changed his surname from Barro to Mitose, keeping Barro as a middle name.
His father James Mitose died in prison in March 27, 1981, naming Thomas Mitose as the 22nd Headmaster of Kosho Shorei Ryu Kenpo.
