The visitors

The Visitors is a sketch from Series 1, Episode 9 of Monty Python's Flying Circus that begins with Victor (Graham Chapman) and Iris (Carol Cleveland), co-workers at a department store, having a quiet date in Victor's dimly-lit sitting room. As the two grow more intimate, the doorbell rings. Victor answers it, and Arthur Name (Eric Idle), who claims to have met Victor three years ago in a pub, invites himself in. Arthur completely interrupts Victor and Iris's evening with his marching band record and crude jokes.

Shortly afterwards, Brian and Audrey Equatol (John Cleese and Terry Jones, with Terry in drag) arrive, having been invited along by Arthur. Brian and Audrey are crude and argumentative. Brian makes a vulgar pass at Iris, who runs out the house. Yet another person shows, an old friend whose wife has just passed away(Terry Gilliam) that Brian has invited over. The man wears only glittered underpants, makeup and a cloak, and appears in manner to be a homosexual. His name is not given, but he invites in his date for the evening, Another Man (Michael Palin) who has brought along a goat with the runs. The goat promptly ruins the carpet. Towards the end of the sketch, the man with the goat invites in a group of builders (The Fred Tomlinson Singers), at which point Victor has finally had enough. He tries to throw them all out, but is shot by Brian who says, "I don't much like the tone of your voice". The sketch ends with the entire cast singing "Ding Dong Merrily on High."
