The Sims Resource

The Sims Resource (or TSR, as it's known) is a The Sims, The Sims 2, and The Sims 3 fansite offering custom content for both computer games to download. It was formed in 1999 by a group of players who were tired of the limitations placed on them by the official EA Games Sims site. It has to date over 250,000 custom floors, walls, objects, clothing, hair, and make-up to download for both The Sims and The Sims 2.

The site was founded by Steve Bonham, Thomas Isacsson, Johan Isacsson, Jan Isacsson, and Per Burström. It has daily updates, and has a core group of featured artists, who create some of the most popular and best looking items on the site.

The site is mostly for pay, with subscriptions that range from 2, 6, and 12 months. It rotates out the free content weekly, with roughly 11,500 files free at any one point in time. Subscribers also have the benefit of being able to view the site ad and banner free, and having priority bandwidth usage for the downloading of content. Members must, at the very least, register their name and email address before downloading any of the content. The artists who contribute to the site are protective over their creations, and the member's IP addresses are logged to trace any content that is uploaded to another site without permission. Any member caught doing such without permission is subject to having their account canceled and their IP address banned.

There are active forums on the site, offering everything from help creating meshes, to game play tricks, to just general chatting. There is also live streaming chat. The forums are heavily moderated, and no chatting is allowed above the PG-13 level. The moderators and staff of The Sims Resource strive to keep the entire site child friendly, and do not allow any conversation or content to be shown that could be considered adult.
