Flight of the Eagles

Flight of the Eagles introduces us to the Seven Sleepers.

Joshua Adams, a tall, gangly boy of fourteen, meets pretty, graceful Sarah Collingwood when she comes to stay with his family while her parents are away in Africa. Almost a year later, a nuclear war breaks out, and Sarah and Josh are put into sleeping capsules designed to keep them alive for fifty years. When they awake, they find that the world has completely changed. Giants, dwarfs, and other strange creatures take the place of the normal human beings one would expect to see. Josh and Sarah, along with the help of some friends, take on a mission to find the other five kids, Dave, Abbey, Wash, Jake, and Reb, who have also been put in capsules. Through many dangers and adventures, all five are awakened. Unknown to them, they are actually fulfilling a prophecy, and the Dark Lord, the evil ruler of Nuworld as the earth is now called, is angry. But Goel, the good guy in the story, has other plans for the seven, and he sends them off on many adventures, which can be found in the other nine books.

The Gates of Neptune

The Seven Sleepers return again in the second book of The Seven Sleepers series. This time, they head to the legendary city of Atlantis with Jere, the princess of the city. While there, they learn that Atlantis is at war. Sarah Collingwood is befriended by handsome Valar, who is the nephew of the king and queen. When Goel tells her to go directly to Atlantis' enemy, Aramis, and talk with him, Sarah asks Val to come along. However, he betrays the Seven Sleepers after they arrive at Aramis' castle, Neptune. Goel appears to Sarah when they are locked in Aramis' jail and commands her to return to Atlantis to fetch Jere. Jere comes to Neptune with Sarah and convinces Aramis that he has been wrong. The two fall in love, and Aramis sets the Sleepers free.

The Sword of Camelot

The third book in the series, The Sword of Camelot focuses mainly on the tough, and seemingly invincible, Reb Jackson. The Seven Sleepers are sent to a land called Camelot, which is based on the Camelot from King Arthur. Complete with knights, armor, and lots of adventures, Camelot seems like it would be a wonderful vacation spot, right? Wrong! The Seven Sleepers are captured by some Camelot knights and thrown into prison. When King Dion decides to have a contest to see if the Sleepers are really who they say they are, Reb volunteers to take on one of the king's men in a jousting tournament. Through some careful lance maneuvering, Reb manages to unseat his opponent. However, this victory leads to his downfall. When Princess Elaine is kidnapped by an evil knight, Reb sets out to save her with his trusty friend, Wash. However, he meets an enchantress named Mogan who convinces him that he is invincible. After saving the princess, Reb takes on a greater, more dangerous, challenge. A monsterous serpent has been terrorizing the area. Mogan asks Reb to destroy it, which he immediately decides to do. Princess Elaine, who is beginning to have strong feelings for the young Southerner, knows that Reb will fail, so she desguises herself and rides along with him, for she knows that no man can kill the serpent, but she can. Sure enough, Mogan fails Reb and leaves him to die, but Elaine kills the serpent with one arrow. She takes the wounded boy back to the castle and nurses him back to health. Reb learns a huge lesson in humility and loyalty.

More descriptions to come.

Josh

Josh Adams is the first sleeper to wake. His age is listed as fifteen, and he is described as tall, gangly, and unsure of himself with brown hair. Goel appoints him as leader of the Sleepers, a job that he does not much care for. In spite of his lack of self-confidence, Josh does a good job leading the group and helping those Goel sends them too. He likes Sarah but tends to put his foot in his mouth and get into trouble.

Sarah

Sarah Collingwood is the second Sleeper to wake. Age 15 , she is graceful and petite with dark hair and eyes. She is the heart of the Sleepers, and has feelings for Josh.

Jake

Jake is the third Sleeper. He is the only sleeper who is not assigned an age, but most likely is thirteen. He is a small redhead with brown eyes and a pug nose. Most often described as pugnacious, Jake can be argumentative and never shies from a fight (even though he most often loses).

Dave

Dave Cooper is the fourth sleeper. At fifteen. He is tall, handsome, and athletic, with blonde hair and blue eyes. Dave has a temper, and it often incites confrontations with Josh and Reb. He may learn the hard way, but Dave is faithful to Goel and grows into a fine young man through the Sleeper's journeys.

Reb

The fifth sleeper, Bob Lee Jackson (Reb) is a good ole' Southern boy from Arkansas. He is tall, with pale blue eyes and sun bleached hair that is always underneath his straw cowboy hat. A man of action, Reb is a skilled horseman and fighter. Reb is extremely close to Wash, in spite of initially disliking Wash because of his skin color.

Abby

Thirteen, with golden hair and blue eyes, Abigail Roberts is described as being very beautiful. She is good at using her appearance to her advantage. Initially that beauty does not go to the inside, though. Initially, she is self-centered and vain, with a tendency to whine. Abby grows to be compassionate and loving, and a valued member of the Sleepers in her own right.

Wash

The last to be woken up, Gregory Randolph Washington Jones (shortened to Wash for obvious reasons) is the smallest and the youngest of the Sleepers. He is also the only African-American. Wash makes up for his small size with his big, cheerful smile. Though often afraid, Wash overcomes his fear with the help of Goel and saves the Sleepers on many different occasions. He and Reb become inseparable after Wash saves Reb's life in Flight of the Eagles.

Goel'

He is the mysterious character that guides the seven sleepers spiritually and mysteriously.
