The Screw City Saints

The Screw City Saints are a celtic punk band based in Rockford, Illinois. They play music that is an amalgam of punk, folk, traditional irish, and bluegrass. The band formed in March 2008, originally consisting of former members of traditional irish, punk, and bluegrass bands. The original members were Chad Timmer, John Logan, Mel Kruse, TJ Kuss, and Janelle Iaccino. Current members are Kelly Krider, Bob Eslinger, Jason Johnsen, John Logan, and Angela Lund.

The Screw City Saints are notable because Chad Timmer is a former touring member of the Denver Colorado based Irish band Potcheen, and Mel Kruse was the original drummer for the Rockford based punk band Mulligan Stu. TJ Kuss was the bass player for industrial metal act Grigori 3.

The Screw City Saints have played with Joe Buck and Flatfoot 56, among other national acts. The Screw City Sainst are perhaps the only Illinois based Celtic punk band outside of the Chicago area. The Screw City Saints debut album, Saints Preserve Us, is due for release in July 2009.
