The Powell Hotel

The Powell Hotel is a hotel located near Union Square, San Francisco. The 6-floor, 137-guest room property was built in 1908 and still possesses wooden banisters and wrought iron railings throughout. This hotel is located near the Union Square neighborhood—the retail, dining, and entertainment center of San Francisco. This submarket, centered around Union Square Park, is also a short walk to the Financial District, Chinatown, Nob Hill, and the Moscone Convention Center. The city's historic street car line and world famous cable car lines provide easy access to Fisherman’s Wharf, Nob Hill, Financial District, and the Embarcadero.

Purchase/Acquisition

The Powell Hotel was sold to Host Hotels & Resorts of Bethesda, Maryland is managed by Kokua Hospitality. Host Hotels & Resorts, Inc. acquired the 426-room Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach in Honolulu, Hawaii from Chartres Lodging Group and Morgan Stanley in 2013. Kokua Hospitality, a wholly owned subsidiary of The Chartres Lodging Group, still manages the Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach. There are six hotels managed by Kokua Hospitality; Inn of Chicago, The Doubletree Hotel Chicago Magnificent Mile, Hyatt Place Waikiki Beach, Embassy Suites Baltimore Inner Harbor, the Aloft Washington National Harbor and The Allerton Hotel.
