The Marigolds
The Marigolds are a multi-genre band with influences firmly rooted in Crazy Horse era Neil Young as well as psychedelic and garage rock similar to The Velvet Underground and The Clash. The band is composed of four University of Vermont students who recorded their first independent album, City Alone, at Gradwell House Recording Studio in the Summer of 2005. A year later, they released their second, full length disc, BUFFALO!, recorded and produced by Dr. Brian Arnold at his home-studio in Clarence, New York. Initially the band included a keyboardist, Jeremy Pfau, but upon moving to Burlington, Vermont, the group simplified to four members. In winter of 2007 drummer Eric Jags was replaced by Matt Barry. The Marigolds are recording new songs in Burlington, Vermont, summer 2007 and throughout 2007 and into 2008 are playing shows up and down the East Coast.
They were recently dubbed "one of the most EXCITING young bands in the northeast" by music blog False 45th. In October of 2007, the band performed at Higher Ground in Burlington, Vermont- and opened for Athens, Georgia band The Whigs and and Green Hill, Alabama group Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. Singles("Roxy", "Six In the East Village Morning" and "No Getting Around It") from their New album, Faux Tease, have already been recorded and the entire album is due out in 2008.
