The International School of Moscow

The International School of Moscow (or "ISM" for short) is a British Curriculum international school serving the expatriate community in Moscow for children aged 2 to 13 years (Pre-Nursery to Year 9).

Governance

The school is wholly foreign owned and managed and run on a day to day basis by the Headteacher.

ISM is governed by the British Schools Group, a non-profit organisation that aims to promote quality British-style education world-wide. The school is also an associate member of COBIS, and is fully licensed by the Russian authorities).

Curriculum

The school follows the English National Curriculum, which is one of three main internationally recognised curricula. Students who graduate from National Curriculum schools therefore can choose to study in most universities worldwide without requiring to sit additional examinations.

The National Curriculum is known for its structure which outlines detailed teaching requirements including minimum teaching hours for subjects as well as guidelines on teaching the gifted and talented.

Student body

As of September 2008 the school currently has 240 students. Students are mostly expatriate coming from over 35 nationalities. The school maintains a strict enrollment policy limiting non-English speaking students. Most students at the school come from a native English speaking background from countries such as the UK, USA, and Australia.
