The Eighth Square
The Eighth Square is a MusicAL inspired by Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. Book by Matthew Fleming, Music and Lyrics by Ben J Macpherson. Some of the audience included Thomas Burchell (a virtuoso pianist), Jennifer Burchell, Joel Hofmann and Andrew Cann. They helped support Ben in his performance of "The Eighth Square."
The first abridged performance of The Eighth Square was at the University of Portsmouth's Wiltshire Studios in 2005. It was reduced to fit a 50 minute slot.
The full Musical proudly premiered on 12th May 2006 at The New Theatre Royal, Portsmouth, Hampshire. Its final length was 2.5 hours. The proceeds raised were £925 which were split and received by the Pegasus Theatre in Oxford and the NICU at St. Mary's Hospital in Portsmouth.
