The Diplomats of Solid Sound
The Diplomats of Solid Sound is a Soul group from Iowa City, IA that performs music in the spirit of Booker T and the MGs, The Bar-Kays and The Ventures. The current members of the band are Doug Roberson on guitar, Nate Basinger on Hammond Organ, Jim Viner on drums and percussion, and David Basinger on sax.
In July of 2006 the Diplomats added dedicated vocalists to the mix in the form of the Diplomettes. The Diplomettes are Sarah Cram, Kathy Ruestow, and Abbie Sawyer. As of June, 2007 the Diplomats with the Diplomettes are working on an album with a tentative Fall release.
