The Deans (Irish band)

The Deans, Irish blues/rock band.

Modestly called Irelands's Greatest Blues rock band, the band consists of Gavin Dean (born 1990) on vocals, guitar and harmonica; his brother Gary Dean (born 1988) on bass; drummer Gary Keon (born 1990). Keon is a native of Woodford while the brothers Dean are from the town of Athenry.

Already veterans of the road, they have just released their third album called “The Album” and have been rapidly developing a reputation at venues throughout Ireland, The UK, Switzerland and France. At a sold out gig in London in 2006 renowned Thin Lizzy and David Gilmore producer Kit Woolven turned up to see the band play. He was so impressed Woolven immediately offered to work with The Deans, subsequently they recorded and played with some of the most prestigious rock and guitar legends including, Henry McCullough (Joe Cocker and Wings) Eric Bell (Thin Lizzy) Jackie McCauley (Them, Rick Wakeman) and Johnny Fean (Horslips). Henry McCullough talks of global recognition for the young band.

The Deans took off after appearing at the Ballyshannon International Rory Gallagher festival in 2006 where in front of 2000 people they caused traffic chaos as people stopped to watch their blistering performance. In February 2007 they won the Irish world award in London for best new band. Since then The Deans have performed to crowds of up to 10,000 people at the prestigious Guitar-en-Scene festival in Geneva (September 2007) and headlined the festival opening night in September 2008 on a bill which included legends such as Dr. Feelgood and Alvin Lee (Ten Years After). Their music was used for the advertising campaign for the festival and was heard by millions of TV viewers and radio listeners all over France and Switzerland. Influences includePeter Green's Fleetwood Mac, Cream and Taste. With the release of their new album throughout Europe, The Deans are looking to promote themselves by planning a tour for 2009.
