The Cavern Today
The Cavern Today is a group which produces a monthly Podcast (known as The Cavern Today) a newsletter (The Archiver) and a real time news podcast (TCT Extra) AbOUT the Myst Online game. The group also serves as an entertainment organization for fans of Cyan World's online multiplayer game, Myst Online which is on Gametap's service. The founders met in Relto in August of 2005, the personal age in Myst Online, on the community-run Until Uru Shard (server), Uru Tapestry. Until Uru was maintained during the two years after Prologue's cancellation. Since its inception it has since split from the Cavern Communications Network group.
Slogan
Initially the slogan "Around the World and Across the Shards" was adopted by the founders but since the announcement of the return of Uru Live, it has been modified to now read "Around the World and Across the ages, This is The Cavern Today, an Uru Live fan presentation." (There are no shards in Uru Live).
Guests on the show
The Cavern Today has maintained an ACTIVE relationship with Uru Live developers Cyan Worlds as well as their new publishers Gametap since late 2005. Cyantist guests include: Rand Miller (CEO of Cyan Worlds), Ryan Miller, Ryan 'GreyDragon' Warzecha, Tim Larkin, Richard 'RAWA' Watson, Mark 'Chogon' DeForest and Josh Staub. Gametap Guests include Eric Largé, Randomos, and Trent Hershenson. Community guests include Zrax, GreyPiffle, Reverend Vader and Kato.
The Cavern Today Podcasts
Podcasts are available from the Official Site and from the Cavern Today RSS feed which automatically checks for new Podcasts. Podcasts are produced on a monthly basis by an ever-growing team of volunteers who donate their time recording scripts, producing PR, or working behind the scenes to make sure the Podcasts are ready and delivered on schedule.
The first Podcast, "Episode 1", was an experiment well received in the Uru community. Though plagued with audio issues and beginner's follies, the Podcast nonetheless set the stage for future Podcasts and premiered the Journey of the Called series, news and weather, interviews, and music.
Over two years later, The Cavern Today seems to have done it all-- Valentine's Day, Halloween, and Christmas specials; interviews with top community leaders; announcements and interviews from leading Cyan and GameTap employees; and even a bit of fun! But The Cavern Today still manages to create exciting, unique content every month. Today, an estimated 500 listeners download the Cavern Today Podcasts each month, and that number is ever growing.

TCT Extra
It immediately became apparent that once a month was not adequate to supply listeners with up to date news and information about the comings and goings of the Uru community. Thus the Shortwave was born, a separate program only a few minutes long that contained up to date information on Cavern life, the latest community happenings, and even some fun commentary. The Shortwave was released as often as needed, sometimes 3 or four times a day. When the Cavern Communications Network and The Cavern Today separated in early 2007, the Shortwave was replaced by the TCT Extra and quickly grew into a vital part of The Cavern Today's programming.
The TCT Extra can be found at The Cavern Today Extra
The Archiver
For those who prefer to get their news and information in print rather than audio, The Cavern Today proudly presents The Archiver, a monthly newsletter produced in PDF format. The Archiver covers any topic, ranging from in-Cavern news (St. Patrick's Day parade, Negilahn expeditions, Yeesha appearances, guilds) to community blurbs (interviews, game guides, art). Functioning much as the old Echo (published by UbiSoft), the Archiver is a production that will be there when news needs telling.
The Archiver can be found at The Archiver website.
Other Productions
The Cavern Today is a growing community and production. While only three productions are currently out, the group will continue to grow and add more programming. The latest news can be found at the group's official website and suggestions/discussion can be found on the group's official forums.
