The ButterCream Gang

The ButterCream Gang is a 1992 children's direct-to-video film produced by Feature Films for Families, with music by Kurt Bestor.

The film revolves around a boy named Scott, who, after his friend Pete moves away to Chicago, becomes the leader of their good-deed doing group, the ButterCream Gang. But everyone is shocked when Pete is unexpectedly back at Elk Ridge for unknown reasons. Now, he is under the influence of a small local crime ring, and completely reformed. As Scott tries to redeem his friend, he learns AbOUT unconditional love and how wonderful his friends are, as they stand by him through every obstacle.

Eventually, Pete gives up and attempts to get back to Chicago by staging his "kidnapping" with help from a wicked man. But Scott and his friends misinterpret this and attack the man. Angrily, Pete tells them off and runs off for the nearest grocery store, and breaks in, and causes a terrible mess, as he struggles on the brink of insanity. After Scott arrives, he breaks down and runs away. Later in the year, Scott reads an article in The Newspaper that Pete has started a new ButterCream Gang in Chicago. And so, Scott feels content with his efforts, and life goes on.

In 1993 a sequel was produced, The ButterCream Gang II: The Secret of Treasure Mountain.
