The Bellmont (band)

The Bellmont is an experimental indie rock/heavy metal band. The group is based out of Albuquerque, New Mexico. After humble beginnings in 1998 as an acoustic guitar duo, the band evolved into a four-piece rock band then made a brief foray into more radio friendly screamo as Superstrings For Superfriends. In 2004, the band reformed as an indie rock outfit and has gradually progressed through a variety of styles, arriving at a unique and profound mixture of heavy metal, experimental and punk. In 2006, guitarist Brian Van Buren of Excruciation/Van Buren fame joined on second guitar, and Jeremiah Wood, an original founding member, left the band and was replaced by Travis, formerly of Albuquerque indie rock outfit Pilot to Bombardier. A year later, Travis left the band and was replaced by Ryan Jarvis, formerly of ABQ indie luminaries, The Build. The band is influenced by groups as diverse as Botch, The Ramones, Modest Mouse, Talking Heads, Sleater-Kinney and Mastodon.
