The American Outdoorsman

The American Outdoorsman is a TV show broadcast for over 20 years on cable, satellite and terrestrial broadcasters. It also licenses its name on numerous outdoor and hunting products.

History

Hosted by hosted by Jim Mueller, The American Outdoorsman first aired in 1990. It airs on AMGTV, America One, the Pursuit Channel and Untamed Sports TV. It is also broadcast in more than 25 states. The company also has licensed merchandise in apparel, accessories, electronics, outdoor gear, publishing, sports equipment and food products. Former Universal Studios, Marvel Entertainment and IMG executive Tim Rothwell is president and CEO of The American Outdoorsman.

The American Outdoorsman also reaches out to its viewers through The American Outdoorsman Adventure Club. Members of the club are offered discounts on guided outdoor tours that include hunting, fishing, ecotourism, water sports and mountaineering. The website includes a social networking component that allows members to interact with Mueller and other show regulars, as well as opportunities to meet them in person at events publicized through the site.

Content from The American Outdoorsman is also available through a dedicated iPhone app.

A client of IMG, The American Outdoorsman inked a deal with e-commerce/video on demand/merchandising company Cinsay Inc. The American Outdoorsman will be able to deliver its video over the internet and allow viewers to shop through the video player. Viewers will also be able share clips through the video player on social media sites and embed the player on websites.

Synopsis of the show

The American Outdoorsman showcases hunting and fishing expeditions featuring Mueller as well as the show's regulars, or "Pro Staff," Lee Clark, Mike Patterson, Rod Clark, Mark Tobin, Natalie SkroSkrobarczyk, Dave Frederick, Jay Wardrip, Blake Moore, Chris Castro, Brett Moore, Jeff Williams and Cally Morris. Anecdotes and facts AbOUT the animal and its habitat are featured in the episode, while the hunt or fishing trip naturally unfolds.

Awards

The show won two Telly Awards for Excellence in Television Production for the episodes "British Columbia Mountain Goat Part 1" and "Austrian Adrenaline."

Radio Show

The American Outdoorsman's success on TV spawned a syndicated weekly radio spin-off of the same name, hosted by Tony George and Mark Tobin. Past guests include rock star Ted Nugent, Sig Hansen from The Deadliest Catch and football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly.

Reaching 70 million homes in the US, The American Outdoorsman radio show is also available through the Armed Forces Radio Network and via podcast through iTunes.
