Tewksbury Mills

Tewksbury Mills is a proposed mall that was proposed a few years ago by the Mills Corporation. It is to be around a millions square feet and contain two skating rinks.

Information

The mall is proposed to be an enclosed mall with two levels. It is also supposed to be an entertainment complex. Originally, the mall was planned to have between 1.1 and of gross leasable area. Eventually the size of the mall was shrunk down to between 750,000 and of gross leasable area. It would be smaller than other surrounding malls, including the Burlington Mall, and Pheasant Lane Mall, two of the closest ones. The Pheasant Lane Mall would be bigger while the Burlington Mall would be bigger.

Some of the amenities that would become part of the mall would be a movie theater complex, and a two-surface ice skating facility. Additionally, the company indicated that they would allow residents of the town to use the rink at a reduced rate.

One of the key features of the mall would've included the construction of the long delayed, long awaited Lowell Junction on nearby Interstate 93. The junction has been proposed for the location for over twenty years. This interchange would directly linked the mall with the industrial park across the highway and the mall to the highway. Additionally, it would keep mall traffic off local roads.

Eventually, the Simon Property Group bought out the Mills Corporation in 2007. Known development of the mall ceased at that time, but work on the Lowell Junction has been restarted.
