Temiskaming Square
Temiskaming Square is a shopping mall in The New Liskeard area of the city of Temiskaming Shores. Its main tenant is Zellers, which, in a rather uncommon setup, actually occupies two store sites, requiring shoppers to walk through the interior corridors of the mall to travel between the store's two halves. Another major tenant is a groccery store. The mall has 164,142 square feet of space.
This mall is owned by CAP REIT and was very popular during the 1980s, contributing to the decline of The Downtown businesses of Haileybury, and to a lesser extent, New Liskeard. Since the move in of a massive Wal-Mart and Canadian Tire at that end of town, the mall has become less popular.
Food Basics, the grocery store, has recently opened after the roof blew off of the old grocery store occupying its location.
The mall was built just out of reach of the town of New Liskeard in the township of Dymond (for lower tax purposes).
This mall is a good draw for the area, as licence plates from Quebec can be seen in the parking lot at all times.
