David Washington: Codename: Marvel Boy/Phoenix

David is the youngest child of David Bryan Washington Sr. of the N.Y.P.D. in New York City, and his ex-wife Amy Diaz Washington. When David was five years old, he was playing with his best friend Johnathan Goldberg when Johnathan was hit by a biker. The emotion that David felt as he held his friend in agonizing pain, awakened his own latent telepathic powers, and he experienced Johnathan's own emotions as he was hurting. This traumatic event left David in a withdrawn and deeply depressed state. Moreover, David discovered that he could not control his newly awakened telepathic abilities, and had to isolate himself from other people to keep hold of his sanity.

Finally, when David was eleven, a psychiatrist recommended to his parents that they consult a colleague of his, Professor Charles Xavier, who was secretly a mutant with telepathic abilities. Xavier explained to David, but not to his parents, that he was a mutant and he treated him for several years. Xavier used young David to calibrate his Cerebro machine.During one particular session, an aspect of young David's mind reached out in the form of the Phoenix to touch young child's mind in the State Home for Foundlings orphanage in Omaha, Nebraska as he slept. During this time, Xavier erected psychic barriers in David's mind so that he would not be able to use his telepathic abilities until he had achieved the maturity necessary for dealing with them. Simultaneously, he taught her how to levitate and manipulate objects through psionic force when he developed telekinesis at the age of thirteen.

Secret Information on David's Powers

By birth, David is a powerful telepathic and telekinetic mutant. He is also the second favored avatar of the Phoenix Force, and while acting as its avatar he is the most powerful Cosmic entities on the Earth.

Initially, David's powers were simply restricted to telekinesis, and even lifting his own weight quickly tired him. With training his telekinesis improved, but it wasn't until after he was released from the stasis chamber he was placed in by the Phoenix Force then his telekinesis really started to become powerful.

David's telepathy was suppressed at a young age by Charles Xavier after he connected with his dying friend. Later, Xavier released these mental blocks for a more mature David. He again lost telepathy following his release from the Phoenix egg, only to regain it after battling Psynapse with X-Factor. By himself, he is a strong telepath but notably weaker than the likes of Charles Xavier or the Shadow King by whom he once defeated and captured by.

While accessing the Phoenix Force, however, David's telepathy and telekinesis are heightened to an INCredible degree. In addition, the Phoenix Force allows him to travel unaided in the vacuum of space and cross interstellar distances faster than the speed of light. The Phoenix Force also allows him to manifest flames while using his powers, often in the shape of a fiery raptor.

Telepathy

He can manipulate the minds of others and even higher order animals. The range at which he can perform these feats is greatly increased while he is accessing the Phoenix Force.

Specialized uses

He has demonstrated the following specialized uses:

Telepathic Defense - He can manifest his telepathy in a number of defensive ways.
Telepathic Cloak - He can mask his presence and the use of his abilities from being detected by other psions and psychic entities. He can extend these defenses to others around him as well. Cloaking via telepathy is not perfect and powerful telepaths may notice and 'see' through this ability.
Cloak Mind - Ability to rearrange the “mental engrams” of mutants so their distinctive mutant thought patterns cannot be detected by Cerebro-type devises or by other telepaths.
Psionic Shield - Ability to erect a psychic shield for protection of himself and others minds.
Telepathic Illusions - He can create realistic telepathic illusions and cause people to experience events which are not actually occurring.
Telepathic Camouflage - He can alter the apparent physical appearance of himself and other people by altering the perceptions of those around him. This can go so far as to make other people believe that the camouflaged people are not there (invisible). A limit, if one exists, is only imposed by the number of people he is trying to fool, not the number of people he is camouflaging.
Telepathic Manipulation - He can manipulate other people's minds easily, achieving a variety of effects.
Mind Control - He can control the thoughts and actions of others.
Mind Possession - He can possess the mind of another, and use that being's body as his own.
Personality Alteration - He can alter the minds of others by force of will, permanently changing their personality partially or entirely.
Mental Paralysis - He can induce temporary mental or physical paralysis.
Mental Amnesia - He can erase any awareness of particular memories or cause total amnesia.
Mind Transferral - He can transfer both her mind and powers into other host bodies if his own physical body could be somehow killed.
Heal Trauma - The ability to erase a person’s memories and to heal mental trauma through “psychic surgery,” the power to stimulate or deaden the pain and pleasure centers in a persons brain.
Mental Sedating - Can telepathically "sedate" his victims so that, if already rendered unconscious, they remain so for as long as he continues to "sedate" them.
Neural Jumpstart - He can increase the speed of neural signals in the brain, he could increase another mutants powers to incredible levels, but the effect is only temporary.
Dilate Power - Ability to place “psychic inhibitors” in the minds of mutant adversaries to prevent them from using their powers.
Mind Link - Ability to develop a mental link with any person which remains as a connection to that individual.
Psionic Blasts - He can project psionic force bolts which have no physical effects but which can affect a victim's mind so as to cause the victim pain or unconsciousness and turning someone brain-dead.
Astral Projection - He can project her astral form from his body onto Astral Plane or the physical plane. In the physical plane he can travel in astral form over vast distances. In the astral plane, he can mentally create psionic objects and manipulate the aspects of his environment. He can communicate with others astrally through his own will, or through contact with the thoughts and memories of others.
Mental Detection - He can sense the presence of another superhuman mutant within a small but as yet undefined radius of himself by perceiving the distinctive mental radiations emitted by such a being.
Telekinesis - Telekinetic abilities enable him to levitate himself or other objects, propel or manipulate them however he wishes, stimulate individual molecules to create heat, and generate concussive force or protective shields.

While he has access to the Phoenix Force, he is able to manipulate matter and energy on a sub-atomic scale using his telekinesis. He can even change his Phoenix clothes into a set of street clothes, and lift multiple heavy objects at once without having any difficulties.

The Power of The Phoenix Force

Phoenix Force Avatar: As the favored avatar of the Phoenix Force, David may greatly increase his powers by tapping into the life energies of those yet unborn. The Phoenix Force also allows its avatars to manifest additional powers:

Interstellar Travel: A Phoenix Force avatar can fly unaided through the vacuum of space, and can travel interstellar distances faster than the speed of light

Cosmic Pyrokinesis: David, while acting as a Phoenix Force avatar, can create 'cosmic' flames under any conditions even the impossible ones such as vacuum space or underwater. These flames do not require oxygen to burn, and burn so intensely that matter is consumed without by-products such as ash. David has some control over these flames, and they only consume what he wills, but sometimes he forgets the unlimited he has. Typically they manifest as a raptor or part of a raptor such as a claw or wings. It is unclear whether these flames are an extension of his powerful telekinesis or a more general property of the Phoenix Force, or it is possible that he can create his very powerful 'cosmic' flames by the combination of both his extended telekinesis power and Phoenix Force. It is certainly true that the cosmic flames are literal punctuation to the Phoenix's purpose to 'burn away what doesn't work.'

Telekinetic Sensitivity: That lets her feel the texture of objects he has a telekinetic hold on, feel when other objects come into contact with them, and probe them at a molecular level to identify if they contain alien materials or feel when two things which he has a telekinetic “hold” upon are similarly composed.

Resurrection: The Phoenix Force can resurrect others after they have died. It is unknown if factors such as time since death have an effect on the ability to successfully resurrect a person, nor is it clear how the Phoenix calls back the soul of a person to their body.

Immortality: David and the Phoenix Force are one-and-the-same entity at some fundamental level, and as such David can never truly die. Upon the death of his corporeal form, David spends time in the White Hot Room doing 'Phoenix work'. The Phoenix Force can also restore David's body to life, although there appears to be some unknown limitation to how quickly it can successfully accomplish this following his death.

Temporal Manipulation: While acting as the Phoenix Force, David can manipulate the past across large temporal distances and with a profound knowledge of the causal effect his actions will have. It may be the case that time as a concept doesn't apply to the White Hot Room.

Nathan Christopher Summers: Codename: Cable

Nathan Christopher Summers was planned before his parents met. Geneticist Mr. Sinister found that a union between the X-Men Scott Summers and Jean Grey would produce a powerful mutant. Sinister hoped he could control such a mutant and use it to defeat Apocalypse. At the time, Jean Grey was believed dead, so Sinister created a clone of her. He named the clone Madelyne Pryor, and created a false background for her. Sinister's plan, then, was to produce a child from the union of Madelyne and Scott, whom he believed would become a genetically superior mutant. Madelyne had been a failed experiment until she was brought to life by the portion of Jean's consciousness that had been borrowed by the Phoenix Force and a spark of the Phoenix Force which had been rejected by Jean's body while in the cocoon. Sinister arranged for her to meet Scott as a pilot for Scott's grandparents. Scott was instantly drawn to Madelyne because she strongly resembled his true love, Jean. They quickly married and Madelyne later became pregnant. While Scott was battling Fenris at the trial of Magneto, Madelyne had a son in the kitchen of the mansion[3] who she named Nathan Christopher Charles Summers - Nathan from an implanted suggestion by Mister Sinister in Madelyne, Christopher from Scott's father, and Charles from his father-figure. After losing in a battle for leadership of the X-Men, Scott retired from the X-Men and together they raised the child in Anchorage, Alaska.
