Tech Pack

Tech pack (Technical Packet) is a document with instructions for apparel production. The Tech pack is usually created by a technical designer, and is used to communicate with a manufacturer all the necessary components needed to construct a given design.

Components

A tech pack is an informative sheet that designers create to communicate with a manufacturer all the necessary components needed to construct a given design. A tech pack usually consists of several elements including technical drawings (usually of front and back views of a garment), reference materials, packaging information, a measurement chart, a sample measurement spec sheet, and any other information required to produce a garment design.

Pages

  • Cover page: The Cover page includes basic front and back views of the design. These are usually sketched with a white or transparent fill, and can be computer generated, hand drawn, or photographed.
  • Inspiration page: The Inspiration page includes image(s) that inspired the designer to produce the garment design. These images are used as a guide to the designer's desired aesthetic.
  • Callouts page: The Callouts page is used to articulate information concerning design details that May Be used when constructing the garment design.
  • Print-Fabric Placement page: This indicates where the designer would like print and/or fabric included in the production of the design.
  • Colorway page: This identifies the colors that are to be used in the design. This will include sections for the color name, color number, and color swatch.
  • Bill of Materials page: This includes information concerning all materials used in constructing the garment design.
  • Fold page: This indicates how the garment should be folded and packed.
  • Graded Specs page: This indicates the measurements of garment design needed for production.
