History

Formation

Pete made various soundtracks for short films such as linkhere which is currently being played at Cannes Film festival. and also was part of numerous bands. Jono did his own thing studying Music Technology at college and making a small ambient project titled 'Long Journey'.

The two decided to give a shot at writing and recording material together which would then be produced by Peter. The first track they made was a song called ‘Vuttony’ which can be found as a b-side on the Vuttony EP. After that they wrote Vuttony, which was the song that made them continue to create music together, and whilst in Scotland they decided to call themselves Teardrop, after listening to the song 'Teardrop' by Massive Attack. They chose the name while travelling Scotland, in Edinburgh This is also where a lot of the Queensferry EP was written.

Queensferry EP

Their debut EP (Queensferry EP) featured their song Vuttony which had got fans excited from Myspace and Garageband. As well as fans, the song Vuttony brought the band numerous awards including, Best Chillout Track for 3 weeks running, Track of the day ([23] [June] [2006], Best Melody, Best Mood and Best song in Electronica. Surprising both of them, this urged the two on to make another album, a full length album.

“Our first track together as Teardrop was Vuttony, Jono came up to me one afternoon and showed me a riff he played on his Takamine, by the evening we had that song done, "it all seemed to just work” says producer Peter Renton.

The album was released on the [19] [June] [2006] by an independent record label/distribulor PAR Records

Euphoria

The album has been in the process of writing and recording for over a year. “Both of us are perfectionists, it doesn’t take us long to write the material, its the recording that takes longest, getting what we have in our heads out and on to the computer." says Jono. So far the album contains a wider variety of music in relation to the previous EP.

"The Queensferry EP was more of a test, Euphoria is the real thing" Pete announced on the official Teardrop MySpace1.

The artwork for the album was done by Chris Mise, a graphic designer. Although a video and song haven't been picked to be released as of yet, the video was thought to be made by Pete Renton, an animation as part of the project.
