Teach Away is a global teacher recruiting company based in Toronto and Vancouver, Canada. The company was established in 2003 by Katarina Puzic in an effort to provide North American university graduates with access to reputable employers overseas.
Government Affiliations
Teach Away works closely with foreign governments to fill their teacher placement needs. Teach Away focuses on placing teachers in Asia, Europe, Africa and South America. As of 2012, specific countries include: China, Korea, Hong Kong, Brunei, Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Georgia, Cyprus, Turkey, the United Kingdom, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Guyana, and Senegal.
Success
The media has attributed the company's success to lucrative contracts that provide teachers with, in many cases, tax-free salaries and benefits superior to those found domestically. In addition, United States school officials have expressed that teaching abroad may give teachers a competitive advantage coming back looking to teach within the country.
Since the company's inception, Teach Away has seen more than a 300% increase in applications.
